Card best practices
Some best practice cases with suggestions on how to avoid issues with your card.
Why did the gas station overcharge me
According to Bond card programs, gas stations can hold up to $75.00 when you swipe your card because they do not know the final amount of the sale (that is, the amount of gas that you actually pump). Usually they release the hold within two hours, but it can be up to four days. You can avoid this situation in the future by paying for your gas inside at the register.
In a scenario where only have $20 on your card and you use the credit option of your prepaid card. The gas station will attempt to hold more than $40 on your card. So $40 plus $75 means that the $115 authorization hold will fail.
